Starlink Maritime has a one-time installation price tag of $10,000 and a monthly fee of $5,000. Compared to the older systems, companies previously paid up to $150,000 monthly for a reliable internet connection; this means a considerable cost decrease. John Heald, Carnival brand ambassador, has provided an on the progress of the Starlink installation on July 10 across the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. So if you want to have two devices connected at once, then it’s double the cost.
How Do You Access the Internet Once on the Ship?
In today’s interconnected world, staying online even while cruising is not just a luxury but often a necessity. Carnival Cruise WiFi offers multiple plans tailored to diverse needs, whether you’re a social media aficionado, a business traveler, or someone who needs full web access. The plans are flexible and cater to different budgets, with options to pre-purchase for added savings. The speed and reliability, while not on par with your home broadband, are commendable for a cruise setting.

Our experience, however, is that you can actually stream at least some of those services that are supposedly no supported. To transfer access between devices, you simply follow the login procedures as normal. It will notify you that the account is already in use and ask if you want to switch devices. Simply confirm the switch and you’re good to go on the second device. Not that long ago, Internet on a cruise was largely a luxury.

During the evenings, there is an official dress code, but it's pretty laid-back. Most nights are designated "cruise casual," which means just that — khakis or jeans, polo shirts, sundresses, etc. Super casual items such as cutoff jeans, men's sleeveless shirts, T-shirts and gym shorts aren't permitted. Note that three of the line's newest ships — Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Venezia — do not have launderettes.
For the first time ever on a cruise, I stopped complaining about how poor the Internet download speed was. Sure, it still wasn’t fast, but it was much more stable and much less frustrating. Carnival is currently has now rolled out Starlink Internet across its entire fleet. This provides a much better onboard Internet experience than you might have had in the past. The other thing to consider is that Cruise ship Internet can be slow, sometimes painfully slow! Carnival WiFi costs were increased in December 2023 and it now costs anywhere from $15.30 to $30 US Dollars per day depending on what Carnival Cruise Internet package you buy.
With pPre-purchasing Wi-Fi prior to boarding, the Social Plan costs $15.30 (previously $12.75), the Value Plan costs US$19.55 (up from $17), and the Premium Plan costs US$21.25 (up from $18.70). At Carnival, you'll pay $5 per cruise to add a "chat" feature to the line's otherwise free HUB app that will let you communicate via text-like messages with other app-enabled passengers. Norwegian Cruise Line also requires passengers to pay a fee (currently $9.95 per cruise) to use a messaging and calling feature of its Cruise Norwegian app. On Royal Caribbean, the path to free Internet on a cruise is through its high-end suites.

One thing to know is that Celebrity trips often have a “Always Included” deal. With this offer, drinks and wi-fi service are already included in your fare. Starlink service is currently available on Regent Seven Seas Cruises' Seven Seas Mariner and Seven Seas Grandeur, with a fleetwide expansion of the service to be completed by the end of 2024. Starlink service is currently available on Oceania Cruises' Vista and Riviera, with a fleetwide expansion of the service to be completed by the end of 2024.
You are able to connect and get data from the app at no cost. In addition, vessels offer extra-charge laundry and, on select ships, dry cleaning services. The social and value plans cost $18 and $23 per day, respectively, when bought onboard a ship. You'll find at least one of its ships sailing out of pretty much every major port city around the country.
Once a device is activated on the plan, it cannot be changed. The WhatsApp plan is for those who use WhatsApp to talk, text and share photos. The Social plan allows access to most popular social media channels.
